Travel Foodie: Visit These States For The Best American Food

The United States might be known for a lot of cool things, but it’s fair to say that many people love us for our food. Even though our food might not be as elegant as some European countries’, such as France or Italy, it’s fair to say that ours is more flavor over style.

One of the best things about America is that all of its states have their very own specialties and local delicacies. There’s just so much food to discover that even if you live in the country I’m sure there will be some state delicacies that you might not have ever heard of.

Do you fancy visiting a few different American states to check out their awesome food? Here are some of the best to add to your travel list.

Missouri is home to some great American classics, but it also has a thriving international food scene as well. In fact, it’s meant to be one of the best states for getting Chinese food and other Asian delicacies. If you are after some traditional Missouri grub, though, you should definitely check out the famous St. Louis style pizza. When it’s time for dessert, make sure you taste the state’s delicious frozen custard.

California is such a huge state and home to a number of unique cities that there really is no wonder it has some fantastic local food. The fish taco is a Californian classic, and you should be able to feed this no matter where you are in the state. Burritos are also a big deal in Cali, and you’ll find that the ones here are a lot fresher than their Mexican cousins. Be sure to stop off in San Francisco to try the city’s dreamy sourdough bread and clam chowder.

New York

There’s so much good food on offer in New York State, most of which is in New York City. Where should we start? When in the Big Apple, it’s crucial that you try one of the many fantastic bagel joints. Just make sure that yours is loaded with cream cheese. Make sure you leave some room so that you can squeeze in a few slices of New York style pizza and cheesecake.

One of the main reasons to visit Pennsylvania is to try it’s extremely popular Philly cheesesteak. You might not feel like eating again once you’ve polished off a cheesesteak, but you should try to save some room for some scrapple. It’s a Dutch pork dish that is fried and traditionally served at breakfast. Also, did you know that whoopie pies come from Pennsylvania?!

Last but certainly NOT least, MY HOME STATE Louisiana!

The American South is often said to be home to some of the country’s best food, and you can see why that is when you look at what we cook up in Louisiana. Po’boys, boudin, and jambalaya will make up some of the options on most of the menus in local restaurants.

Has all of this food talk got you drooling? Maybe it’s time to take a trip around the States!
