Lollapalooza Kicks Off in Chicago Tomorrow! Here’s a Rundown to Help You Plan Your Weekend
Tomorrow 100,000+ music fans will head to Chicago’s Grant Park for Lollapalooza, one of the world’s largest annual music festivals. This year’s lineup features some of the big names in urban music and I’ll be on hand to cover them all. There are 8 stages total at the festival so it’s easy to miss an artist that you may have been looking forward to see. Here’s a list to help you plan your Lollapalooza weekend!
Thursday August 3rd
Amber Rose’ baby daddy Wiz Khalifa will be headlining on Lolla’s opening night (he goes on right before Lorde, someone I will NOT be missing!), hitting the Budlight Stage at 7 pm following the Migos, who will be performing at 5pm. Over on the Pepsi stage, Chicago’s own Kweku Collins opens up at 12 noon while Lil Uzi Vert serves as the evening’s headliner, going on at 9 pm.
Friday August 4th
Friday is a light day as far as urban acts go, the only two artists that are performing that day are Wondaland’s Jidenna and Run the Jewels. Both will performing on the Grant Park stage with Jidenna going on at 2:45 pm and Run the Jewels performing at 6:45 pm. BUT if you are into alternative music like me, The Killers will be closing out that stage following Run the Jewels at 8:45pm.
Saturday August 5th
Saturday is a BIG DAY for Lollapalooza as Chicago’s hometown hero Chance the Rapper will be headlining that day over on the Grant Park stage. His set is scheduled from 8:30 pm-10 pm so you knowwwwww it’s going to lit. I suggest to get there super early if you want to be able to get close enough to see him. Outside of Chance, hip hop newcomer Amine performs on the Pepsi stage at 1:50 pm and 21 Savage is on the Perry stage at 7:15 pm.
Sunday August 6th
Detroit’s Big Sean closes out the festival over on the Bud Light stage at 7pm. Lil Yachty (who’s set I just may check out for my own curiosity) plays Tito’s Handmade Vodka stage at 6 pm. The Pepsi stage is full of urban acts on this day. Noname (another Chicago artist) goes on at 2:50 pm, 6lack at 5:15 pm, Joey Bada$$ at 7:45 pm and my boys Rae Sremmurd close out the stage at 9 pm. Duckwrth (a new artist from LA that put out a dope record called “Boy”) hits the BMI stage at 1:10 pm. Machine Gun Kelly is on the Lakeshore stage at 1:30 pm followed by Charli XCX at 3:30 pm.
Compared to the last few years, this list is pretty overwhelming. Of course there’s a slew of after parties going on throughout the weekend, most of which are sold out but websites like do312.com are a great resource to see what else may be happening over the weekend. I’ll be covering the festival all weekend via my social media (on my Twitter and Instagram) so be sure to follow me and stay tuned, you never know who I may run in to in the press lounge!
See you at #Lolla!
