Most of us underestimate just how our brain is pretty much the vital conduit for anything we experience, and for almost all of our survival. Having another problem to think about can serve as both training and as a stimulating break from the main applications you attend to all day. Think of heading to a gym.

You don’t go there to solely train your arms if you want proportional development. On Monday you might curl, on Tuesday you might squat, so the other elements have time to breathe. Meditation can often seem like some new-age mumbo jumbo, perhaps explained to you along the same lines of telling you you’re an ‘old soul’ and are on a spiritual journey. No matter how you feel about these things, positive or negative, it is easy for meditation to become lumped up in this kind of message. But meditation is not some fairy tale. It is actually real, scientifically backed, and has completely demonstrable results on test populations.

Sitting down and focusing on the breathe inhaling and exhaling through your nostrils can build your concentration over time. Ten minutes, fifteen minutes, twenty minutes, trying to get good at one time segment and then increasing the duration over time can have real results. You will likely feel fresher, more in the moment and comfortable when keeping to this practice – and it will certainly help your brain function throughout the day.
