Habits You Need To Quit Before Christmas

Posted On By keena

Christmas is not far away. Somehow the year has rushed by us once more and we are in the midst of autumn, getting ready for the cozy winter season. Most of us choose to change our habits and start fresh in the New Year… but today we wanted to discuss a different option. What if we gave up bad habits now before Christmas? Instead of feeling terrible throughout the festive season due to bad choices, it could be a great chance to try something new and be healthier.

Today we are going to take a look at some of the things you could consider quitting before the festive period.

Being a couch potato

When Netflix has to ask you if you are still watching a program, you just know you’ve spent too much time on the sofa. Sitting down on the sofa is fun and it is really relaxing, but it is also a bad idea for long periods of time. If you are looking to stay healthy and live a long life, it is important that you get up and move around more. Stop spending your days on the sofa and instead stand up and enjoy another activity!

Drinking too much

If you read the introduction of this post and thought we would suggest quitting drinking altogether, you’d be wrong. The main habit you need to get out of right now is drinking too much. If you often go out and get drunk, and spend the next day with a hangover, this is not healthy. A few drinks in moderation is always fine, but indulging too much is not only unhealthy but expensive. Limit yourself to 2-3 drinks when you head out and you’ll see a huge impact on your time, health, and happiness.

Yo-yo dieting

We all go through phases where we want to inhale kale and only be around things that are green… but the biggest issue is that these diets never last. This is why instead, you should consider stopping the crazy diets and instead focus on modifying your current one. For example, instead of white bread use seeded. Have smaller portions with a high proportion of vegetables. Make small and manageable changes to your diet to stay on track.

Using electronics before bed

We should all be getting around 8 hours of sleep a night, and this is something that is important for a healthy lifestyle. When trying to relax in the evening, using your phone and watching tv can disturb your brain and make it difficult for you to switch off. Try to get into the habit of switching off your phone and tv before bed to give your mind a chance to relax for a while.

Smoking

Smoking is one of the worst habits of all for your health and it is something that needs to be dealt with sooner rather than later. Quitting smoking is hard, but it is possible. Make the effort and take the time to quit smoking, and try to gain support from people who love you.  Use disposable vape pens to curb your cravings and try taking on a new hobby to occupy your time and distract you.
