Ya’ll…DID YOU SEE HOW MY SISTA AMANDA MOTHER EFFIN’ SEALES COMPLETELY READ CAITLYN JENNER!
About last night at Katy Perry live dinner. I don’t take being in these conversations lightly. As a black woman they will far too often consider your intellect a threat and your passion a problem. I hope I inspired others last night to live in your truth no matter who is at the table. Let’s grow not just a discourse of love but a DISCOURSE OF COURAGE. Because that’s what it takes to face and deliver these inconvenient truths. Made my momma proud last night. Thanks for the love y’all. ❤️✊🏽 [Feel free to RP the vid]
Those that know me know that I have been following Amanda Seales (formerly known as Amanda Diva) for a long ass time. She is the EPITOME of a renaissance woman! She acts, writes amazing poetry, she can rap, dj, paint her ass off, she’s funny as hell AND she’s beautiful and educated. She recently had a seat at the table at Katy Perry’s live dinner event and the way she spoke about the black experience at a table full of white privilege is currently going viral on the internet and for good reason.
Amanda said to Caitlyn Jenner what blacks have been saying for the last, oh I don’t know, 50 years in the country. For some reason White America refuses acknowledge their privilege. The fact that Caitlyn Jenner was so confused and could not understand that her experience as an American is completely different from Amanda’s and every other black person in this country is frustrating, it’s annoying, and quite frankly…its bullshit.
How many times do us blacks have to repeat our selves. How many times are we going to have protest, march, write long ass think pieces, hashtag, tweet and everything in between before wypipo wake up. The answer is forever because wypipo aren’t dumb. They know the history of this country they just refuse to acknowledge it because their privilege is a convenience that they just aren’t willing to let go.
To Amanda, I want to say Thank you. Thank you for continuing to be fearless. Thank you for being passionate. Thank you for not sugar coating your message and being a voice of renaissance in the entertainment industry.
